BOOK NOOK: MAIN STREET READS
01 Jul 2026
Summerville’s community gathering spot
July-August 2026
Summerville’s indie bookstore, Main Street Reads, was launched in March 2019 by Shari Stauch, author consultant and former professional pool player. Located in the heart of historic downtown Summerville, it was built around the philosophy that books should be fun and bring people together. It has become a welcoming community gathering space where readers can discover new voices, attend nationally known author events, join lively book clubs, and connect with fellow book lovers. Known for its cozy atmosphere and creative programming, the store hosts everything from children’s story times and quiet reading clubs to fantasy parties, thriller discussions, romance nights, and the Summerville Book Festival each February. Summer is their busiest season with a packed calendar of book clubs, a summer reading challenge for young readers, and new signing events. Weekly children’s Storytime “Stories on the Square” happen alongside popular monthly book clubscovering thrillers, fantasy, romance, upmarket fiction, young adult and middle grade reader works.
Readers can also expect special “Blind Date with a Book” weekends, signed editions, and exclusive merchandise. Follow @mainstreetreads to find out about all the book clubs, release parties, author signings, and all bookish celebrations!
