Pitt Street Pharmacy goes back to the roots of pharmacy with personalized service
By Jenny Peterson
Pitt Street Pharmacy, a beloved staple in the Old Village in Mt. Pleasant, manages to capture the nostalgic charm of its roots as a 1930s soda fountain and pharmacy where customers are treated like family with modern specialties.
The full-service compounding pharmacy offers traditional prescriptions as well as hormone replacement therapy for both men and women, veterinary medications, topical pain creams, dermatology products and much more.
“It’s fun to walk in and take a ‘step back in time,’” said owner and pharmacist Brandi Sherbert. “We went back to the roots of pharmacy. We take the time to get to know our patients and their needs. Physicians are limited on their time with patients. As pharmacists, we can fill that gap.” The pharmacists and staff offer personalized care for everyone.
“We are specifically and specially trained to look for interactions, to recommend what a patient may need for a fever or cold or just if a patient has a question or concern about their medications,” Sherbert said.
Pitt Street Pharmacy is unique in offering saliva kits for patients for both men and women to assess an accurate level of hormones, including cortisol. Over-the-counter supplements address immunity, GI concerns, stress levels, pain management and a wide variety of CBD products help aid in anxiety, sleep, arthritis and inflammation. The pharmacy offers home delivery, mailing and curbside pickup.
Pitt Street Pharmacy regularly hosts speakers who specialize in health topics and participates in “Street Strolls,” an after-hours event featuring vendors from the community. There’s also the still-working old-school soda fountain with counter service, grilled cheese sandwiches and sweet treats.
“When you walk in, there is a good chance one of the pharmacists or technicians knows your name,” Sherbert said. “It has been proven that community is just as important to wellness as all the other foundational things we do.”
