Magnolia MedSpa focuses on personalized wellness

By Tess Farmer

Nestled within one of the charming historic buildings on Broad Street, Magnolia MedSpa opened in April this year to serve the Charleston community.

Offering a clean and serene environment, Magnolia Medspa evokes a sense of tranquility from the moment you step inside. The thoughtfully-designed interior combines modern elegance with the building's unique architectural features, creating a harmonious blend of old-world charm and contemporary sophistication.

"As a family of physicians, nurses and aestheticians, we wanted to combine our talents to assist people in living their best lives," said Thomas Cordeiro, chief executive officer and founder.

Magnolia Medspa offers a full suite of aesthetics including Botox and Dysport treatments, IV therapy, dermal fillers, and hydrafacials.

"We've assembled a team of experts to offer personalized services to deliver the finest results, to make you feel refreshed, rejuvenated and your best," added Cordeiro.

The team is truly family with Cordeiro's partner Kim Bateman serving as chief operating officer; son and daughter-in-law Christopher Cordeiro, MD and Lily Fong, MD serving as medical directors; daughters Ashley Talford, LPN, and Catherine Cordeiro, RN, and daughter-in-law Lauren Cordeiro is an aesthetician.

"We always say Jessica Antonelli, MSN,FNP-C, is part of the family and is an adopted daughter who fits right into our fun-loving family dynamic. Everyone has a healthcare background so it was a natural fit to bring everyone together to establish our own medical spa," added Cordeiro, a pharmacist by background who relocated from the Northeast to the Charleston area eight years ago.

Christopher Cordeiro and his wife Lily Fong attended medical school in New York and returned to Charleston to serve in the family business.

"We wanted to give back to our community of Charleston, creating a space for rejuvenation, allowing our clients to feel their best," he said.

Magnolia Medspa also has a large clientele of visitors in town for weddings, special gatherings and other occasions, all perfect opportunities to visit the spa.

"We've really enjoyed serving groups coming in together and those vacationing here in Charleston to give them a boost before or after their festivities," Cordeiro said.

The team is highly focused on safety, customer service, and overall satisfaction. From various facials, dermaplaning, waxing to IV Therapy, wellness is a key focus.

One of multiple IV options include Vitamin C, Vitamin Complex (B complex vitamins), Mineral Blend (Magnesium, Copper and Zinc) to rehydrate and improve detoxification, resource essential vitamins, reduce inflammation, improve circulation and combat fatigue.

When selecting a quality medspa, it's also essential to prioritize safety and well-being. The team at Magnolia MedSpa shares the following tips to consider:

Research and credentials: Start by researching the medspa thoroughly. Look for their credentials, certifications, and licenses. Ensure that the medspa operates under the supervision of a qualified medical professional, such as a doctor or a nurse practitioner.

Cleanliness and sanitation: Visit the medspa in person to assess its cleanliness and adherence to proper sanitation practices. The facility should maintain a clean and sterile environment to minimize the risk of infections.

Qualified staff: Ensure that the medspa employs trained and licensed professionals. The staff should have appropriate qualifications, expertise, and experience in performing the treatments and procedures they offer. Don't hesitate to ask about their training and certifications.

Consultation and assessment: A reputable medspa will always provide a thorough consultation before any procedure. This allows the staff to understand your needs, assess your medical history, and determine if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. Honest and transparent communication is crucial during this process.

"We invite you into our medspa and embark on a journey of self-care and rejuvenation, where you can pamper yourself, restore your confidence, and leave feeling refreshed, revitalized, and ready to take on the world," said Cordeiro.
